Rock climb your way to fitness

A few years ago, a friend of mine invited me along to partake in what had become her hobby and favorite form of exercise - an indoor rock climbing gym.  The thought of jumping up onto those walls, though the handles looked sturdy, and actually climbing to the top was absolutely terrifying!  But I felt like I could conquer Mt. Everest after a rock climbing class and a few hours on belay.

 

The whole point of a climbing course is to get the climber comfortable with settling their weight in their muscles and trusting that their partner will not let them fall.  If I lived in Bishop, CA, you bet I would be visiting Sierra Rock Climbing School for one of their full day rock climbing courses!  Look in the dictionary – “rock climbing” is no longer synonymous with “fear”.
